Health promotion for workers of all ages
A large multinational initiated a health promotion programme to create healthier workplaces for all ages. They recognised that workers were motivated by different things and they set out to create a programme with something for everyone.
The company designed a programme to focus on the key themes of nutrition, physical activity and stress. At the same time, they needed to make the programme as flexible as possible to appeal to the widest possible range of workers. Talks and health screenings proved attractive to older workers, while their younger colleagues participated more through the use of tools and apps which help them to track their healthy eating or exercise habits.
The programme was very successful in increasing awareness of healthy lifestyles and improving physical fitness levels, with reduced stress being reported. Clear, measurable goals for both individuals and each work-site were set, while also introducing some healthy competition!
